Personal Background

Hey there, my name is Niya!

This September 2024 I started the MA Web Design and Content Planning programme at the University of Greenwich and event though I don't have a background in web, I am excited to get into this new adventure and see how far I can go.

I have always been interested in things that involved showing creativity. For exmple, when I was 10 years old a friend and I set up our first business (didn't last long!). We made and sold jewellery and other accessories made of wire, fabric and other materials. Occasionally I enjoy drawing and painting and sometimes I take on a random crafts project to unwind.

Professional Background

In Bulgaria

While studying in high school I worked as a photographer and videographer. I was mostly an events photographer for city events, weddings and proms. My favourite part of the job was the fun and friendly approach we had with our clients, which has left me with lots of great memories.

I assisted in the filming of a graduation film for the class of 2020 in my school, since the pandemic did not allow it for them to have the usual 'Graduation Send-off' that high schools organise. This was a really cool project, as the content had to be humoristic and satirical. We got very creative trying to come up with different ideas to make it engaging and fun.

Another cool project I worked on was a series of short comedy films for my home city, as it is know for being the humoristic capital of Bulgaria with many fun stories and myths about it. You can read about the project or watch the videos but please bear in mind that all videos are in Bulgarian and unfortunately there is no translation provided.

In the UK

Here in the UK I worked and am still working in the events industry. I have worked at festivals, conferences, sporting events, horse races, exhibitions, award ceremonies, fundraisers and marathons. The experience has been super fun and rewarding but also interesting to see how different groups of people behave in different settings depending on the type of event.
